Vice President for Comedy Central, Creative Services and VIS
ViacomCBS Networks Africa

Dillon Khan is Vice President for Comedy Central, Creative Services and ViacomCBS Studios at ViacomCBS Networks Africa. Khan was the Senior Creative Director at VCNA since February 2016 and Comedy Central’s Channel Director from October 2016. Previously he was the Director of MTV and VH1, VCNA flagship music and youth channels since the end of 2013.

He describes himself as “a creative at heart with business on the mind”. His knowledge and creativity within music and TV production is impeccable. Having studied finance at City Univeristy Business School in London for three years, Khan decided he needed a change in direction and went into the world of media, taking in experiences in radio and television. He got his first major break landing a job at MTV and spent eight years in various roles starting in production on a show called The Lick (hosted by Trevor Nelson), then as a brand manager in marketing and finally as head of production at MTV Africa/MTV Base. He acquired expertise in all aspects of TV production, marketing and being a channel controller. Khan also worked freelancer for a number of years before his appointment as director of MTV and VH1 with key projects including LOCOG – London 2012 Paralympics & Olympics; NFL and Puma.

Since childhood, Khan always loved reading and writing and dreamed of being an author. In 2009 he took the decision to put pen to paper and began writing – the result was The Intern. At the time, youth unemployment and internships were coming into sharp focus and he felt some of the things he had experienced and heard about while at MTV could make for a good read and would resonate. He also created a website to accompany The Intern with extra content on the book and leaders of industry advising on “”How To Make It”” in their profession.

Khan’s mantra is “your attitude determines your latitude” and he admires Jay-Z as an entrepreneur, strategist, brand marketer and rapper. Based in South Africa, Khan spends his time working and travelling between Europe and Africa.”
